Warden's Report

Christmas is fast approaching and we have lots to report in this issue from the Christmas Gift programmes to the Christmas Breakfast to ordering your Christmas poinsettias.

The first Christmas Gift programme Capital Mental Health Association in Victoria begins on the First Sunday in Advent, November 27 to the Third Sunday in Advent, December 11. Many people who have experienced mental illness may no longer have family connections or the support of friends. Each year this time, Capital Mental Health Association begins collecting gifts and donations for persons with mental illness who are in hospital, care facilities and the community. The gift you offer may be the only one received at Christmas and it has a very special meaning that someone is expressing the message of caring in a tangible way.

If you wish to donate a new gift, it may be left unwrapped during the two Sundays mentioned above at the Church. There will be a decorated collection box inside the Church to receive your gift. If you wish to make a cash donation, it can be receipted for income tax purposes. Cheques should be made payable to the “Christmas Gift Fund”, Capital Mental Health Association, 125 Skinner Street, Victoria, BC, V9A 6X4. Should you have any questions, please contact their office at 250-389-1211. Thank-you.

Treasurer's Report

The month of October showed total receipts of $3,892 and total disbursements of $4,660. For the ten months ending October 31st, total receipts were $51,632 and total disbursements of $55,165 with an excess of disbursements over receipts of $3,533. Our budget forecast for this same period of time was to be a shortfall of $16,920. Our actual vs. budget has improved mainly to the hold on several capital projects, e.g. a new roof on Church House. Although our general donations are slightly above budget, we are below in our donations to the PWRDF.

The final donation of $300, a portion of the $1,100 which represents 10% of the Church Fair receipts, was sent to PWRDF. (Earthquake Relief Fund - Pakistan). The Federal Government matched all funds received by PWRDF. In addition Council approved a donation of $100 to the Stobart Rehabilitation Fund. Council also approved the transfer of the $12,000 presently invested in Canadian Savings/Premium Bonds, which will earn only 1.5% to 2.8% this year, to the Diocese Long Term Investment Funds (mainly mutual funds) which presently earn 4.5% to 4.75%.

If anyone would like new donation envelopes, please see Naidae Betker, our Envelope Secretary. Thank you for your continued support.
