Art show opening night
"Karen Stanley, on Mayne almost a year, brings a selection of multi-media pieces from her portfolio as well as work created here on the island. With a quirky outlook informed by domestic life, community arts and low-fi techniques Karen hopes to cause a transformation in the ways we live with & think about art."
February 2012 is my chance to show at the Mayne Reading Room / Trincomali Community Arts Council gallery space. Opening night will be on the Friday, Feb. 3rd from 7 - 9 pm.
Welcome all and please pass along this message if you think of anyone who may like to come. The show will be on for the month of February so if the "opening night" is not convenient, please stop by any time during normal library hours.
There will show a few old pieces and some new work which builds upon my previous octopus theme and is quite different for me. I will show a few prints, some paint and assemblage, a soft sculpture and some painting on paper and driftwood.

Murder during Earth Hour!
Earth Hour is the largest environmental movement in history! All over the world, at a pre-determined time, people turn off their lights and shut off electric devices to benefit our world and let their voices be heard about the
future of Planet Earth! Parties and events are organized world-wide as people band together to make a difference. But one party is about to go horribly wrong... A special event has been planned for Earth Hour, a social where people can get together and mix and mingle during the hour of darkness. Shortly after lights out, someone drops dead and five suspects are identified. Who killed this mysterious stranger, why, and HOW?
